Two Paths (A Struggle)

Let me tell you about two authors, who for the sake of anonymity I will call A and B. Both authors are devout Christians. Both had childhoods that some of us might refer to as "dark." Both write terrifying novels that end in some kind of hope for the protagonist. They like to explore the grittier side of humanity, but good always triumphs in the end, even if Jesus and God are never mentioned explicitly in the text.

The biggest difference between these authors is that A writes for the secular m...

Karen I get the struggle. I do not like the cussing, but a lot that passes as Christin fiction is like pie in the sky. I love Kathy Reich's forensic books. Some cussing and I do not like the fornication in it, even though Temperance is not lackadaisical with it. It is wrong biblically. But christian books are hard to find that measure up to how much I really like her stories. I used to read only christian market and then money problems forced me to the library. christian books that a strong enough meat for me became hard to find without money, before Kindle and more freebies. I ended up getting some secular as a need and found Agatha Christie and the bones series with Temperance Brannon. Plus others. As with anything when it comes to christian , you are damned if you do and dammned if you do not. I really do not like any outward sin with the Christians in a book, if the book is labeled Christin, but for reality, I can accept an unsaved individuals, doing what is normal as mentioned above. Travis thrasher ids an example of some of this. I do know it must be extremely hard to make a book spiritual and make it deep enough for me to read. Maybe 2 books need to be written side , by side one secular and one christian. Depending on conscience sake. Maybe 2 pen names. Take one and add more for secular style. Not all Christians can handle what I can. I have had say, Mark of the lion series and shared with Christians that told me it is evil. Francine rivers. I have read them 3 time. Really salvation in there and spiritual, but deep. Books are like christian music. I got saved in a background where listening to modern Christian CCM is evil, but I like you stated love rock and pop music so I listened to that genre of christian music and took flack for it. Even today since I lo0ve Christians that listen to CCM and others that are offended I Have to hide my music likes on FB since we are told to put others ahead of ourselves and not cause another brother or sister to stumble. hard tight rope. If not for that music, I would not be where I am as a Christian. Hymns would not have worked for me.
