Homework and Short Stories

So I saw a quote on facebook and I have to share:

Being an author is like having homework every night for the rest of your life.
Now I can't really refute that (it's true) but it's also true that it is very enjoyable homework.  I love when a story finally all works out and I can see everything that's going to happen.  My favorite though is when a character takes on a life of its own.  Maybe he or she was only a place holder originally and they blossomed into an amazing character, taking on a much bigger role than was originally intended.  I have several characters that have done this.
On the flip side of that coin are characters that you plan to be a big part and they kind of fizzle.  Luckily I've only had one of them but it's sad...kind of like losing a friend.
So I've finished the first draft of my untitled book (I'm working on one, I promise!) and I'm going to be editing this very soon.  I have also started book three of Donegal Sidhe!
I have opened a Wattpad account and hope to be able to post some of my stories there until they get published.  So check me out and become a fan!  I will also be writing short stories featuring characters from my books so if you're dying to know more about Brea, Caith and Trevor come see!
I have posted a new story about Trevor.  Read it and tell me what you think!

Hazel West That's an apt comparison ;) I too love those characters who have a life of their own. I'll have to check out your Wattpad account. I've posted some bits of my writing on there too.
