THE WONDERFUL THING ABOUT WRITING

When I published my first book and began discussing it with people that I came in to contact with they all said, "You've completed the hard part...now it's all easy from here." That is the biggest misconception people have. The work begins after the story ends. That is the time to dig in your heels and work hard and diligently. One thing that I have learned since publishing is that the marketing efforts begin before you publish your books. I only wish there had been someone there to tell me that before I published the book. But I am a firm believer that it is never too late for anything. I always believe there is still hope that circumstances will change and situations will improve. Many people believe that the writing is the hard part. Not true.

http://www.stockfreeimages.com/The wonderful thing about writing is that you can write whatever you want, however you want, whenever you want. But the issue that is important is that you must write what your readers will be interested in and want to read. But writing is not hard for me, because I do not view it in a manner that others do. Writing my blog posts, papers for school, or even business communications pieces under my freelance writing business does pose a challenge when looking for topics sometimes. However, once my topic is selected it's not that difficult. In writing my books it's even easier than that. I simply write about what comes to my mind, my heart, or in a dream. I seek inspiration in everything and if it speaks to me I write about it. In the middle of the night I can awake from a dream, jump up and jot down notes about that dream, which inspires a story.

The wonderful thing about writing for me, is that it does not require a certain set of rules or regulations, although some may believe it should. I write from my heart and allow it to take shape of its own accord. When I start out creating a story it never ends the way that I first imagine. I become one with my characters reflecting how they would feel in a particular situation and write from there. Initially I do not worry about what others will think when they read it or how it will appear in print (that pops up upon publication). I write freely and without reserve allowing myself to be swept away by the moment and the words. I typically turn on music that is appropriate for the piece I am writing at that time and allow my spirit and mind to roam free and my fingers to dance across the keyboard or my pen across the paper.

The wonderful thing about writing is that no matter what I am crafting at that moment it brings me joy, serenity and happiness. I have fun when I write and typically that is what I desire to do more than anything else in the world. If you find something that speaks to your heart and soul the way writing does with me, go for it. We have this one life to live and we should live it to the fullest doing what we do best.
