my life in words
People want to know what your “platform” is. They want to know what you stand for, fight for, work for, are willing to share with others, and believe in. They want to know what is important to you, and what kind of things you would be willing to give up your time for. Everyone has had different things that have touched their lives, or the lives of their friends and family. We all have a platform. I am no different. I have a platform too.
~~~ There's a special place in my heart for protecting and caring for “Children.” I have a special love for their innocence. No child has ever asked to be brought into this world. They didn't have a say in the matter at all. So, I feel every child deserves to be given the best opportunities this world can offer so they can become the best adult they can be.
No child should ever have to fear being sold into human trafficking, being neglected, or having to endure physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. Not EVER. But we don't live in a perfect world, and it's full of adults that weren't given the best opportunities to become the best adult they could be when they were children, so innocent children will suffer and die at their hands. But if we change the lives of the children, we will change the lives of the adults they grow up to be. The children are our future. They are this world's tomorrow.
Any opportunity you have to come in contact with a child, is an opportunity for you to make a positive difference in their life. It doesn't just take a village to raise a child, it takes a world. If you're unhappy with the way the world is now, then change it by protecting and caring for our children. You're not just helping one child when you help a child, your helping the next generation. I guess my platform is protecting and caring for “Children.”
~~~ There's a special place in my heart that wants to stop “Bullying.” I have a special love for people that are being bullied in our world. I root for them and will go to battle for them. You may think bullying only affects the person it's happening to, but that couldn't be further from the truth.
I have personally been bullied at times through my life, but I also have personally witnessed someone I love being bullied during their entire childhood and into their teens. Just because there was a physical difference in this person's appearance, bullies considered that reason enough to make this person's life miserable. Miserable enough to quit school after years of torture and torment, but still graduated through correspondence school. I fought more fights than I can count because of bullies. I never understood why the bullies couldn't see this person through the eyes of love like I did. Why did they feel entitled to demean them just because they were a little different? Why, because of their own weaknesses, did they feel justified in bullying others, and tearing them down just to build themselves up?
People that are bullied bleed when they're cut, laugh when they're happy, cry when they're sad, eat when they're hungry, sleep when they're tired, and love because they want to be loved back JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. When someone is horribly and relentlessly bullied it can make them become one of two things. It can make them become mean as a snake and knock the crud out of anyone who looks at them the wrong way, almost becoming a little like a bully themselves, or it can make them become introverted and pull away from the hurtful world that is closing in around them. They retreat inside themselves and try to shut out the pain by shutting out the world that is allowing the pain.
Some are fortunate enough to finally overcome their bullying and go on to become strong, well adjusted, productive people. Others are not so fortunate, and become severely depressed, even thinking they can end their pain by hurting themselves, or worse. I can't stand it. It breaks my heart to see anyone being bullied. Where are the parents, families, and friends of the bullies? I don't understand how anyone could stand in a hallway, watching a fellow student being relentlessly bullied and NOT stand up for that student. I don't care if they're you're “friend” or not. They're a human being for pity's sake. Scream at the top of your lungs for help. Make some noise. Get someone's attention. Let the bully know they are NOT going to be allowed to treat anyone like that. Start anti-bullying groups. Stand together to come against the bullies. Bullying will only stop when we stop allowing it. We teach people how to treat us. I guess my platform is to stop “Bullying.”
~~~ There's a special place in my heart for showing compassion to the “Grieving.” I have a special love for those that are broken, lost, sorrow-filled, and grieving any type of loss in their life. I know what it feels like to grieve the loss of loved ones, the loss of life dreams, the loss of a family business, the loss of jobs, and the loss of relationships. Grief is real and necessary no matter what kind of loss you experience. You just have to be sure you come out on the other side of it when the time is right.
Because I've been in the darkest of dark places and have come out on the other side of the lightest of light, I want to help those who are in their dark pits right now. We are all family. We are all a member of the human race.
My compassion is great, and my heart is greater. The pain of grief is palpable. The grieving feel unbearable loneliness even in a crowded room. It can be a hole that can swallow you up and never let you out if you let it. My purpose is to show others there is light at the end of the dark tunnel. I always say you will never get “OVER” losing someone you love, but you will get “THROUGH” it. I'm here to show you that if I can go “THROUGH” it, you can too. It may not be easy, but it can be done. It just takes time and being patient with yourself. My book and music are the words of my heart to those who are hurting, for whatever reason. You don't have to hurt alone. There is Peace you can have even in the middle of your battle. I guess my platform is to show compassion to the “Grieving.”
~~~ There's a special place in my heart reserved for giving encouragement to ALL “Caregivers.” I have a special love for those who lay down their own lives daily for the sake of someone they're caring for. The things we've been made to live through, are very the things that helps to make us who we are.
Because of my loss, grief, and me being my mother's full-time Caregiver for 9 ½ years in my home, I have been molded into the woman I am today. Caregivers are a special breed of people. It doesn't matter if you're young or old, male or female, or if you're single or married. If you're a Caregiver, then you, my friend, are a force to be reckoned with. You have been cut from a very special piece of cloth.
There's something spiritual in serving others as a Caregiver. It takes a love that's unknown to many. It takes a patience that's impossible for many. It takes a desire to see a need and supply it no matter what the cost. It takes a willingness to put someone's life before your very own for as long as it takes. It takes guts, laughter, a Hercules type of strength, and most of all...faith.
Caregivers are sometimes a “forgotten” group of people. Family and friends continue on with their own daily lives while the Caregiver can only dream about what a life like that must be like. I guess my platform is to give encouragement to ALL “Caregivers.”
~~~ Well, now I'm confused. Is my platform to Protect and Care for Children, to End Bullying, to show Compassion to the Grieving, or to pour out Encouragement to Caregivers? The answer is YES. I guess I need to simplify it and only have one platform. So, after much deliberation I've come to a conclusion. The bottom line is...my platform is “LOVE.” Just pure, simple, unconditional, everlasting, yours for the taking “LOVE.” My Platform is “LOVE.”
Until the next time we talk......Stand firm on Philippians 4:13.
