Busy, busy, busy ...
I don't get out as much as I should. I should get out and tour more, I should get out and see more local musicians, I should go visit more friends. I'm completely aware of this, and it's something that I'm constantly striving for. And yet, sometimes I think the exact opposite: I should stay in and write more. Can these contradictory things be both true? Probably. I've been feeling time slip through my fingers a lot lately. Just a musing, but still ... there's always a voice whispering in my ear that I can do more, which seems ridiculous, when you're swamped with work all the time. Still, there it is.
I've had a few poems out, recently. First off (and I think I've mentioned this here before), my poem That Old-Time Religion appeared in Van Gogh's Ear. More recently, my poems For Beth & Mindy and Know Your Rights, Redux have appeared in Red Fez. Please check out these two fine online journals, both of which print some great, unconventional stuff.
We took a short hiatus from Radius, but are back now, first with some gorgeous poems by Jenn Monroe, and then a look at invented forms by Robert Wynne. And there's still more great stuff to come.
Over at The Telegram & Gazette, my Pop Culture Notebook has been hopping, in great deal thanks to Telegram reporter Craig Semon, who's been knocking out some fun stuff, including a review of The Amazing Kreskin in Worcester, and some thoughts on The Who's seminal Quadrophenia. For my part, I talked about local musician Sam James' new song, checked in with local filmmaker-writer Skip Shea, and shared some geekery from the casts of Doctor Who and the Big Bang Theory. Also, my What Your Listening To column this week honed in on songs and poems by Red Molly, Sadie Sloe Gin, Eric Devenney and Demons Alley.
So I suppose I've been keeping busy. And still there's more to do ...
