November marks the beginning of the “holiday weight gain season.” According to a report published in Nutrition Review, researchers at the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University found that “among the entire population, weight gain during the 6-week holiday season explained 51% of annual weight gain.” (Link to abstract here.)They further stated “these results suggest that holiday weight gain may be an important contributor to the rising prevalence of obesity.”
