November marks the beginning of the “holiday weight gain season.” According to a report published in
Nutrition Review, researchers at the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University found that “among the entire population, weight gain during the 6-week holiday season explained 51% of annual weight gain." (
Link to abstract here.) They further stated “these results suggest that holiday weight gain may be an important contributor to the rising prevalence of obesity.”
Another study from this same research center at Tufts showed that those who were already obese tended to gain even more weight. In fact, a number of those involved in the study gained five pounds or more during just the holiday season alone.
Most of us have dealt with holiday weight gain. The food is good (and plentiful) and hard to resist, especially in a social setting. Are there any
hypnosis and self-hypnosis techniques you can use to better control your eating behaviors around the Thanksgiving table?
I share some tips in my next newsletter, which I'll be sending on 11/15. To sign up to receive this newsletter,
