“FANGS and HEARTS” Week Features Author Misty Harvey’s “Creatures of the Damned”
Synopsis of
“Creatures of the Damned: DeWinter Series #1″
How can you run from something that lives inside of you?
Lynx harbors a much darker side, a side that continually calls for the fulfillment of death.
Betrayed by those that should have loved him unconditionally, he has grown distant and cold to the world that surrounds him.
Giving into the beast within has always been an easy feat. It’s learning the delicate balance between his sides that is the constant battle.
The women he deems worthy enough to grace his bed are few and far between. However, he finds small satisfaction in the dance as the beast calls for a more primal existence, one that could prove to shake the entire world Lynx has created for himself.
Will he ever find the one woman that will dance with the beast in the moonlight? And be strong enough to tame its wild nature?
Even as he wonders if he’ll find a life mate, his world turns upside down with the betrayal of a lifetime. Bringing Lynx firmly into the center fold of a battle that has been centuries in the making.
The sides are difficult to decipher and with a history like Lynx’s he questions who he can truly trust when it comes down to the nitty gritty of it all.
When the battle all really begins to unfold, Lynx realizes he may have bitten off more than he can chew this time.

My review of
“Creatures of the Damned: DeWinter Series #1″
by Misty Harvey
I am a self-admitted Paranormal Connoisseur with a certain specialty in Vampirism, so when I read “Creatures of the Damned: DeWinter Series #1″by Misty Harvey I was expecting the same old creatures to come out of the wood work as the story developed. However, not so for this novel! It wasn’t that way at all.
We first find our hero, Lynx, when he was young being the victim along with his mother of his father’s abuse. Then he was taken in by his rough and tough uncle and trained as a hunter of vampires. All along the author portrays Lynx as a double personality, so to speak, with the “Beast” on one hand and “Lynx” on the other!
Going back and forth in the dialogue throughout “Creatures of the Damned: DeWinter Series #1″ the Beast becomes more and more present. Time travel going back and forth kept me hitting the arrow button on my Kindle; however, I happen to like a book that you have to digest as opposed to skim over.
I found myself going through the book and being thrown hard curves in the story which I liked also because it really kept me engaged in the story. I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning one night because I just couldn’t put it down!
Believe me, if you are looking for the same old story… you won’t find it in “Creatures of the Damned: DeWinter Series #1″ It is chuck full of action, twists, adult themes, and it leaves you searching for the next book to find out what happened to these characters.
I will have to say that I love a warped leading man who gets it together when he finds love. I hope that Lynx has found his love at last. I guess I will have to see when the next book comes out.
I give “Creatures of the Damned: DeWinter Series #1” 5 out of 5 stars and a real thumbs up!
I encourage anyone who is a Paranormal Connoisseur like me to read it. You will not be sorry! Great read and novel by Misty Harvey!

Interview with
Misty Harvey and Lynx DeWinter
First off, I would like to thank Emily for allowing Lynx DeWinter and I to come haunt her blog. I am truly honored.
Lynx is – well he is just a surely sort some days. It didn’t help that on our way over here he tried to scare a little kid, and she laughed, calling his Halloween costume lame. According to the kid, vampires are so last year.
I’d also like to thank all your readers that came by and took the time to read this blog. I hope you enjoy it.
Welcome, Lynx, are you excited? This is after all our first interview together.
Lynx: Yeah, I guess so. Did you have to pick training time to do it though? I have vampires to hunt. I still need to get Tatum. *His jaw begins to twitch*
I tried to get you to do the interview earlier, but you had to eat. We will go onto the next question then. What is going through your head when you are preparing for a hunt or battle?
Lynx: Easy, revenge. I want all of those filthy bloodsuckers to pay for what they’ve done to my parents – well, okay more importantly to my mother. My father can stay dead, on that point they did me a favor. *A black haze lines the edge of Lynx’s vision*
You were quoted as saying ‘How can you hide from something that lives inside you,’ how do you deal with this thing that lives inside you?
Lynx: It’s hard. I never know what each day will hold or when he will make his appearance known. It really gets in the way of my everyday living.
*The shift into ‘The Beast’ comes quickly*
The Beast: Thing? I am not a thing, and the human should count himself lucky. If I wasn’t there to save him at every turn he’d already be dead. He’s weak, and it’s pathetic. *The growl slid between his fangs, and danced along his lips*
What was it like when you made your first ‘kill’?
The Beast: Exhilarating, gratifying, I mean seriously those two deserved it. *He held up his hand to stop my next flow of words* And before you even ask, yes I’m glad I killed those two idiots. I mean seriously, it spread the word to fear me, but more importantly, it kept two lesser vampires from roaming the earth.
Some believe you did it to save the woman. *I raise my eyebrow at him*
The Beast: And they are idiots. Humans are to be manipulated into doing what our superior race want.
Then why did you send her away in a cab?
The Beast: You can kill a thousand vampires and nobody cares or even knows. We have no records of our existence. Kill one human, and it becomes a village hunt. I’m not fond of being burned at a stake during daylight.
What’s it like to be a clan leader?
The Beast: It’s hard work. I want to rule the biggest clan of our supernatural world, and I was landed with the ‘cops’ of it. Seems like a stale joke played by karma to me.
I think I’ve taken up enough of your time. You appear to be growing hungry. *I eye him warily*. Thank you for joining us.
The Beast: Yeah, sure, you are welcome. I have work to do. Speaking of work, so do you. I think it’s been long enough. Do you think you can get book two out now? People want to know more about me, and who could blame them. I am amazing. Besides, I have a son now that is going to be just as powerful as his father is.
Anyway, thank you for joining us. Have a good night, readers, and Happy Halloween.

Misty Harvey Author Bio:
I’ve always felt a certain draw to the night, and the creatures that live there. So writing about these beings has always been easy for me. That isn’t to say there isn’t always a certain level of mysticism in each experience.
I’ve lived with the characters of my books, heard their tales, experienced their up and downs with them.
Now I share it all with you, my readers. Come join me in a walk in the moonlight. Let us experience a new way of life that occurs after sunset.
