The Magic of Matchmaking by Louisa Bacio

Have you ever paired up a couple? The art of bringing two people together can be quite the gift. It’s more than thinking, “Hey, they’re single, why don’t we throw them into the same room and see if they stick.” You gotta look at those likes and dislikes, and know deep down if they’re looking for the same level of commitment.
At one point, I actively set up one of my best friends with a guy I worked with. First impressions, he was outright handsome, funny, endearing, smart and best yet – he’d just moved from out of state and didn’t know anybody. I specifically remember thinking, “He’s a good catch.” Why didn’t I grab him for myself? Well, I was already taken at the time, so why not hook up a single pal. Fortunately, it worked out. They got married.
About the same time, I went on a business trip and met another co-worker at our headquarters for the first time. He fit all the same categories, and when another friend later returned from a trip, and said, “You wouldn’t believe who I hooked up with.” I easily guessed. They simply matched. (And later got married.)
Unfortunately, that was the end of my matchmaking skills. Over the years, there have been a few people that I’ve thought: Could be good together. But, for one reason or another – usually conflicting schedules – they don’t hook up.
The 1Night Stand series at Decadent Publishing all feature some of the same key components, including an exclusive dating service run by Madame Evangeline. We don’t know a whole lot about Madame Eve. She possesses more than a bit of magic when it comes to bringing a couple together for a night of stimulating interaction. And in the best stories – in my opinion – there’s that ah-ha twist that makes the connection count.
My new paranormal erotic novella A Date with Death features a match-up made in heaven. Well, not literally, but the story starts in the antechambers of the great beyond. Here’s a looksee:

Reece normally wouldn’t consider being set up, but after his brother buys him a certificate, he feels obligated. A romantic night on the Southern California coast, with the full-of-life Maise leaves him wanting more.

A zing of desire traveled through her body. “Not food.”
Maise worried her bottom lip between her teeth, thinking about the perfection of kissing him. Perhaps there was something to this dating service.
He slipped his hand into hers and led her back inside. With his thumb, he caressed the C-shape between her index finger and her thumb, sending a current of sensations fluttering through her system.
“I might be able think of one or two things to entertain you. First, will you dance with me?”
He stopped to turn on the stereo, and a slow Latin jazz began. Warm guitars built a rhythm that matched the beat of Maise’s heart. Reece held his hand out in offering, and the look of hopefulness on his face touched her. A man who’d suffered more than one loss in his recent past, he’d come for this date to get away and maybe find a glimmer of hope for the future.
She couldn’t be the one to turn him down. She stepped within the comfort of his embrace. In his arms, it was as if her other problems didn’t exist. The tightness in her chest began to unwind. If only they could stay here, in this resort, forever.
