I finished a major revision this morning, turning MIRACLE LANE, my third Miracle Interrupted story, from a novella into a novel. I had planned for it to be a novella, but as I wrote it, I knew it that enough elements to be book-length. Only I had a deadline and would be late if I changed the length. So I pulled back, wrote a novella, and sent it to my editor.
Four weeks later, she told me it should be a book. So now it’s a book, and from now on I’m listening to my intuition. With the novella, I was depressed. With the book, I’m happy. I have nothing against novellas, but this story is hugely better as a novel.
My Miracle Lane cover is done, too, which also makes me happy. This one didn’t come easy for my brilliant cover artist, Laura Morrigan, but she did it again. I’ll post it as soon as I get the jpeg. Maybe I’ll post an unedited excerpt, too.
This weekend, I’m going to a farmer’s market and a birthday party. Otherwise, I’ll stay home and critique my CP’s next book. I love her writing and it will be a joy for me. When that’s done, I’ll read Miracle Lane once more before sending it to one of my CPs.
What’s making you happy lately?
