The Dark Knight Rises

As I’ve mentioned before, my “reviews” of movies and other such objects of entertainment aren’t terribly in-depth, as folks before me have kindly written ten bazillion words about them. My gig is just to let you know what I thought, in case you hadn’t made up your mind yet to go see or read something. In the case of The Dark Knight Rises…well, let’s just say I’ll be adding this summer blockbuster to our eclectic little Blu-Ray collection.

I really enjoyed the two previous Dark Knight movies, more so than the earlier kitschy Batman films, but I have to confess that I liked this one the best. You can, of course, look forward to lots of action and things going boom, but this movie has more emotional content that I think makes it a richer experience. In particular, Michael Caine in his supporting role as Alfred pulls off a couple of scenes that I suspect very few other male characters could manage nearly as well.

Bottom line? If you enjoy the Dark Knight movies at all, or action films in general, you’ll be doing yourself a huge disservice if you don’t see this one. I also recommend seeing it in the theater, because some films just have to be experienced on the big screen, and this is one of them.
