Go City Pass Review: Is It Worth It?

I recently traveled to Barcelona and purchased a Go City pass in advance. Here’s my review of the Go City pass, which level pass I recommend and whether it was worth the cost. Plus, a 10 percent discount code if you decide to get a pass.

I used the Go City pass during my stay in Barcelona, but they offer passes at more than 25 cities all over the world.

go city pass reviewHow the Go City Pass Works

The Go City Pass is a sightseeing pass that gives travelers access to multiple attractions, tours, and activities in major cities for one set price.

Instead of paying for individual tickets, visitors can use the pass to save money and skip lines at popular attractions in cities all over the world.

The pass comes in three options: an All-Inclusive Pass, which lets you visit as many attractions as you want within a set number of days, an Explorer Pass, which allows you to choose a certain number of attractions to visit at your own pace and an Essentials Pass, which lets you choose from a limited number of attractions.

The Go City pass is easy to use. Pick your city, pick your pass level, then pay for the pass.

You download the app and activate your pass on the day you want to use it. However, some locations and tours will require advance reservations!

So, if you get the pass, I highly recommend making reservations as soon as possible. Reservations are made based on the date you plan to visit, not the date the pass is activated. Your pass is considered activated when you scan it for the first time at an attraction.

go city pass reviewWhat Go City Pass Level Do I Need?

We got the All-inclusive pass for two days, and I don’t feel like it was necessary. You can only fit so much into a day! We thought we’d be adding extra activities in between the reserved ones but doing that felt too rushed.

So, while it was great to have the option to add tons of things, we realistically could only fit about two activities in a day.

If you don’t plan to be running to attractions constantly, I recommend the Explorer Pass level. Give yourself the option of 1-2 attractions a day, and that will give you plenty to do and leave a little time for wandering and exploring on your own.

If there are only a few things you want to see, then go for the Essentials level.

The other benefit of the Explorers and Essentials level is that they are good for 30 days, so you don’t have to do everything right away. Our All-access pass was only good for the two days we had paid for.

Is It Worth it to Purchase a Go City Pass?

My honest review of the Go City Pass is that yes, it’s worth it, but only at the right level. I think we spent too much on the all-inclusive pass and didn’t use it to its full potential.

As far as skipping lines goes, it did save us some time in very popular spots where there was a line, like Sagrada Familia and Park Guell. We were able to walk right in with our tour guide.

I actually think we got the most value out of the walking tours we booked. They were a really great way to see a lot of sights and learn about the city from a local.

If you go to Barcelona, I highly recommend a walking tour of the Gothic Quarter. Do the one that ends with tapas and sangria! Our guide Blanca was amazing and has lots of insight into the locations and the culture.

The tour guides give you little earpieces so you can hear them as you are walking, which is a nice touch. That way they don’t have tour guides yelling in the streets everywhere.

If you are considering getting a Go City Pass, I recommend getting it early and start planning now! It will give you time to research where you want to go and make reservations early for popular spots.
