Margo's Musings: I'll Huff and I'll Puff...
Since we are switching things up on the blog this week, I finally get to share a story with you that I love reading with my favorite “almost sister”. Seriously, Margo is hilarious and reading with her usually has me laughing so hard I start to snort. I always know when she is ready for this book because she starts to pretend sneeze- over and over again. Of course, she does it with a lot of flare and drama that only Margo can really get away with.I already mentioned my favorite tale told from another point of view in our
Top of the Heap
post, but considering it’s Margo’s favorite book to have me read with her, I just had to share a little more with you.
The True Story of the Three Little Pigs
by Jon Scieszka lets readers know what really happened with the three little pigs. It is such a blast to imitate Al Wolf, previously known as the Big Bad Wolf. I make my voice as deep as I can, which starts Margo giggling. Since Al is looking to borrow sugar and has a cold there is a lot of sneezing going on as the story progresses. We read it all the time together, so Margo knows what is coming. Still, her eyes open wide and her mouth starts to twitch as she watches me, waiting to see and hear the fake sneeze I will come out with. I am pretty good at keeping her guessing, and she does her best to imitate whatever sneeze I pick. Sometimes Mr. Morrow joins in, which makes Margo and I practically roll around on the floor. It is even better if I have a clean tissue handy- it really adds to the performance : ) I can’t forget to mention the amazing illustrations done by Lane Smith. They really help the story come alive and Margo loves to point at them and try to tell me the tale herself! So much fun and I am convinced that A. Wolf is telling the truth. B. What he says makes sense! ~L
