I wrote this story a few months ago, before the major flooding that’s occurred in the US, and I wanted to wait to share it. Although this story is meant to be fairly lighthearted, I think with current events it could be perceived as making light of the situation. So to honor that a bit, I want to acknowledge that Hurricane Helene and Milton have caused incredible destruction, and it will take years for those communities to fully recover.
