Research

I suppose that as a writer (it still feels rather pretentious to think of myself that way) almost any reading I do could be considered research. Now on page 800 of The Brothers Karamazov--and only 63% of the way through--I'm reading the Bible as well. Maybe this time I'll get past Deuteronomy.

I have to say that I even find inspiration in The Wall Street Journal I read every morning. Its editorial page often treats questions of ethics and morality, including political questions that have ethical and moral implications.

I tried to find a book treating the psychology of ideologues for the story I'm (trying to) writing now. The closest I could come was one entitled Authoritarian Ideologues and Tyrants. Lo and behold, there is an editorial in today's paper dealing with the tyranny of Yasser Arafat and Hamas.
