Fire and Ice: Where Dark Whisper Takes Us

I doubt it will be a surprise that Dark Whisper takes us into the dark forests of a secluded Russian village. I’ve done a great deal of research of Russia; its landscape, history, architecture and people. The Lycan royalty live in this part of the world and have for centuries. We know from stories about Demitry that there are wolves in this region that he protects and that he has had experiences, both good and horrible, with the lycans.
When Siv travels to this region to speak to Skyler and Demitry he finds more than he bargained for. A royal lifemate, intrigue and Hell itself.

description

The time of year he arrives has brought the snow and I wanted to have both ice and fire juxtaposed against the trials the couple would come up against. Love and hate. Acceptance and rejection. Pleasure and pain. Lies and truth. It’s a long, layered, list in this story of a forbidden love.

Siv and Vasilisa are from different worlds. Worlds that don’t always trust each other. Worlds that have historically believed in staying away from each other. Even though the Lycans and Carpathians have fought together in the recent past, a long-standing belief system and fanatics who can’t step away from those beliefs make their relationship not only difficult, but dangerous.

Siv finds himself surrounded by rejection regardless of his sacrifice to save those who would reject him. Vasilisa has known her whole life that she held the other half of his soul. She has known that her man would be someone her family may not accept. Now he has arrived. And choices must be made. Live a cold life alone or embrace the heat of hatred from her people. The question is – is this love worth it?

Sherry Roginski One thing I've always enjoyed about the Carpathian characters is learning tidbits about their background before they lost emotion and color. With Siv, those tidbits are shocking, to say the least! Who could have ever imagined where that would take us? As sad as the thought is that Carpathian males lose emotions after 200 years, Siv's story embodies the necessity of that happening so that they continue their lives while they hunt for their lifemates. How much harder would it be to keep one's honor throughout the centuries if those emotions were there?

I loved reading about Siv and Vasi, Christine does not disappoint, and as always, it was worth the wait. Except that it was over too soon, and another year of waiting looms to see which characters are up next.

Maureen Gianinio It was great seeing Dimitri and Skyler, all the Dragonseekers and their lifemates. To remind us of the challenges they have in the face of fanaticism. Lots of oh wow revelations! And while Siv realizes he will be defending his lifemate from these beliefs because of their fated destiny as lifemates, that rejection is possible from her people...I love the acceptance he also finds, when he believed he might not find it, from Vasilisa and his Brethren, and more...such a journey!

Emma Wesley-Harjo I like all Feehan fans love the Dark Series.
I don’t particularly like the introductions of Demons and Satan.
I would like the story line to just focus on Carpathian's and vampires.
To me it just goes too far adding Satan in the mix.

I agree. I stopped reading another series I loved because the author introduced Demons. Witches are ok.

Nichelle I love it when you deviate from your typical story pattern. I think you have too many A-type male characters and not enough kick ass women. For someone that reads everything you write, the characters are a little too predictable. I would like to see a story line more on the Carpethian who is life mate to the baby another is carrying. The woman who can tell if someone has a life mate out there was awesome! More with her gifts being used please.

Carol L Cridge Love the twists and devilish turns in this one. I think Vasilisa could kick the devil's ass! Vampires, demons, devils, all evil is represented. Even "Good Gone Bad," Poor Justice. There was a series - called "Lucifer," Tom Ellis played Lucifer Morningstar. It was great in my opinion. Funny- humble- scary and very, very romantic. AND the man could sing! Who are we to judge? Only 'One' judged the devil-but did he still love him? He let him exist. So, you decide. We read about vampires, not a huge leap to demons and the devil. I loved the battles. Good triumphs and justice is served. But everyone deserves a chance, anyone can change. Free will.

I could be misreading this statement lifemate to a baby who is being carried by another. If not, wasnt Gregori's lifemate carried by Raven? Yes, he did manipulate the embryo into being a girl and his lifemate. Plus, we know Gary's lifemate has been born but we dont know anything yet. I would imagine it takes great strength to hold on if they find them when they are too young to claim. Dimitri and Val met their lifemates when they were underage.

Nichelle The book I am referring to is Dark Tarot. In the book Luiz in South America is sought out. He is told by his reading that Riley’s unborn baby is his life mate.

Holly Was Benjamin ever mentioned in any of the stories. It just seem odd that he wouldnt be at any of the events or hang around any of the other kids/young adults?
