Hey, I’m Niall Doherty.

I quit my last 9-to-5 job back in 2010.

Since then, I’ve earned my living online in various ways. Last year (2021) I earned $208,536 from my laptop.

I’m on a mission to accurately rate and review all the best online business courses. My team and I are spending many hours investigating these courses and getting feedback from real students.

All that to say: we know a thing or two about such courses and making money online.

Becoming a Blogger seems like a decent course but it doesn’t make the top of our list…

How does Becoming a Blogger help you make money?

Becoming a Blogger aims to help you build and grow a blog that gets tons of traffic from Google and other search engines.

It teaches you how to make money from your blog in a myriad of ways, including affiliate marketing, sponsored and guest posts, and selling your own products.

Here’s how Cate explains what you can learn in the course…

becoming a blogger review course lessonsLearn more about bloggingWho is Becoming a Blogger for?

Cate Rosales sells Becoming a Blogger as a platform mainly intended for beginners to blogging…

I designed this course for beginners and hobby bloggers that want to start making money from their blog. Although I do have some intermediate and advanced bloggers that benefit from the course as well, most of the content will be useful to those that do not yet have experience growing their audience or monetizing their blog yet.

Not only would I agree with this description, I also appreciate the honesty. Many courses claim they can be useful for advanced bloggers, when that is rarely the case.

Be aware, however, that building up a successful blog takes a lot of time and commitment, regardless of how you learn.

Becoming a Blogger makes no secret of this, noting on their sales page…

And I’m not going to sugar coat this: there will be work involved. I worked my booty off for several years to get where I am today, and I still work hard every day.

Blogging is fun and flexible, but it’s still work. Especially in the beginning. You are essentially building an online business from scratch.

70+ ways how to make money online (including easy options)Does Cate Rosales have a good reputation?

For the most part, yes.

Cate seems like a legit blogger – her main blog Sweet & Simple Life has been around for several years and she seems to earn a decent income from it.

Cate also hands out quite a bit of free and helpful content. Her private group is free to enter, even for people that haven’t bought her course. This is a big green light for her because people can easily get a feel for her community.

However, her paid courses don’t appear to be all that popular. I’d understand this if Becoming a Blogger was fairly new, but it seems to have been around for a few years already.

While I can confirm that the course has been updated since it launched, it’s unclear how often it receives updates.

Are Becoming a Blogger students getting results?

The sales page for Becoming a Blogger does not show a single success story. You need to enter the course’s checkout page to see testimonials. But even then, they seem to be rather scarce. IMO, they’re still missing relevant info, like when did the students take the course, and whether or not they made any money…

becoming a blogger review student results

In short, I would have expected to see way more testimonials for this course during my research.

How much does Becoming a Blogger cost?

Full lifetime access to Becoming a Blogger costs $147. This also means you’re getting all future course updates for free, should they ever come.

That is a one-time payment. As of this writing, there is no payment plan option.

Just keep in mind that there are a few additional costs, such as for setting up your own website. Cate alludes to this on the sales page…

I do not have a lot of guidance to provide with regard to free blogging platforms, like WIX, Weebly, or Blogger. In fact, I don’t recommend them if your desire is to build a profitable blogging business. If you want to build a blog using a FREE platform, this course probably isn’t the right fit for you.

Becoming a Blogger Discount?

I’ve searched high and low for a discount or coupon code for Becoming a Blogger, but have yet to find mention of one anywhere. However, there is a place to enter a discount code on the Becoming a Blogger checkout.

So it looks like you’ll have to pay the full price if you want access.

Refund Policy

The course specifies a 30-day money-back guarantee, but it seems that the refund is action based.

The sales page mentions an action based-refund, yet the action itself is unknown…

If you are not satisfied with your purchase, you can contact me at anytime during the first (30) days after buying the course, and receive a full refund. The only requirement is proof that you went through the course, put in the work, and didn’t find the content beneficial.

Do you need to go through the entire course? Or just a certain percentage of it? What does “putting in the work” consist of? I can’t tell.

Confusingly, the course’s checkout page simply says…

If you’re unhappy for any reason, just contact us within 30 days of purchase and we’ll give you your money back.

So it’s unclear here if the refund policy is no-questions-asked or action-based.

How is Becoming a Blogger structured?

Here’s what the course looks like once you’re signed in…

becoming a blogger review course curriculum

There are a total of 21 modules. Each module is pretty long, with loads of text. Only a few lessons have videos; the majority of them are text-only. Personally I prefer video-based courses, but perhaps text-based isn’t so bad for a blogging course.

becoming a blogger review course modules

The modules seem really well planned out. The course starts off slow with some pretty basic blogging info, but it is promptly followed by ways of making money through blogging. More than half of the modules are about making your blog profitable.

I can get over the lack of video lessons, but it seems like there is no search option in the course. It has many lessons, yet it still seems rather difficult to navigate or refer back to specifics.

Finally, there is also a Becoming a Blogger Facebook group. It has more than 35 thousand members, some of whom ask questions or help others out. Every day, Cate further encourages them to share their blogs and social media pages.

Green Lights 🟢

Some positive points for Becoming a Blogger…

Clear instruction, easy to follow, and step-by-step.Covers multiple traffic generation methods (eg. affiliate marketing, SEO, social media).Fairly low price compared to other blogging courses. No overhyped promises or shady marketing.Active private community.Cate Rosales walks her talk.Red Flags 🚩

A few things to be wary of regarding Becoming a Blogger…

Lack of success stories from students. No search functionality; hard to find specific lessons. Not enough video lessons for my liking.Unclear refund policy.Other things you should knowA good way to think of Cate’s training: she’s basically documented everything she’s done to build her own successful business. When you buy the course, you get access to that documentation. The documentation is mostly text-based, so you’ll likely be disappointed with the course if you prefer video lessons. You’ll find some handy downloads within the training, including checklists, spreadsheets, etc.Despite having so many members, the Facebook group for Becoming a Blogger doesn’t reveal many success stories, either. The group still looks rather useful, though. Maybe the success stories are lacking simply because blogging isn’t the fastest way to make money online.👇 Subscribe to eBiz Weekly 👇

Should you join Becoming a Blogger?

Because of a lack of success stories, I can’t seem to figure out whether the course’s students are satisfied with their purchase.

What I can tell is that there’s a good chance you’ll be disappointed by Becoming a Blogger if you’re an experienced blogger.

On the other hand, if you’re new to blogging, you will likely benefit from Cate’s straight-forward approach and her thorough instructions on how to monetize your blog.

If you’re willing to put forth the time and effort, what Cate teaches can be a reliable way to make money online.

And, as mentioned, the course is quite inexpensive compared to many other blogging courses.
