Kitty Problems
Dear Readers,
I've had to step back this week. Last Thursday my cat suddenly fell ill and stopped eating. I rushed her to the vet Friday and thankfully, was able to have her seen before the holiday weekend here in the U.S. After running numerous tests and receiving fluids, she was sent home in a cone to await the results of said tests.
My cat is a special needs cat with a neurological disorder called cerebellar hypoplasia. This means the area of her brain which is used to judge depth perception was not fully formed at birth. She cannot jump or climb and is always wobbly on her feet. With a cone, her ability to walk and fit in her usual hiding places was severely impaired and needless to say with the loud noises from fireworks, it was a very, very long weekend for both of us.
On Tuesday, I was told she has a UTI and stones in her bladder. She was given antibiotics and I have had to completely change her food. While she is feeling much better now, it has taken up every spare moment of my time.
Writing is normally my refuge from the stress of work and grad school, but my cat is a living being and that takes precedence. She has been with me every step of the way for the last few years as my constant companion it's only right I returned the favor as her human guardian.
Hopefully, going forward, things will return to normal. I am more than ready to return to crafting Sabrina's story. I also hope none of you has to ever experience a pet with a UTI or stones.
Best,
Tomi
