An ancient terp settlement in Wremen (Lower Saxony/Germany). It was inhabited from the 1st century BC to the 5th century AD, until the people left the settlement in order to travel to England, where they became Anglo-Saxons. The houses of the settlement were built on terps, artificial dwelling mounds, in order to protect the houses against the North Sea. The houses were of the byre-dwelling type. The excavations between 1954 and 1963 delivered important finds and insights from this area.
