This is the final installment of my reader/friend Gorgeous Gitte's interview of Moi. Thanks for the fun questions, Gitte! Rock on!

GG: What song do you put on when you are feeling happy and more importantly do you happy dance to it lol!!!

Moi: I am a music fiend. My family has this gig where, when we get together, we start drinking then we put on the stereo. Everyone gets their choice. We have a rota, oldest to youngest or youngest to oldest. You get your song and the rest of the group can’t wander away or whatever. Everyone has to listen. Usually, we sing and dance. Sometimes we cry. Once, someone put on Blink-182’s “All the Small Things” and we all got up, put our arms around each other, jumped up and down and sang it at the top of our lungs. This is now my happy song. I adore it. Every time it comes on on shuffle, I sing it and usually dance.

GG: What kind of research do you do for your books?? (cause I so want to help you out on that one... ;0) lol!!

Moi: Ah GG with her hot guy cop hubby… ready to fill me in.

I research as I go. Usually the internet. Sometimes, I’ll know someone and hit them up. In For You, my bestie from way back used to work dispatch and her husband is a small town cop. So she read it as I wrote it and I asked her questions to ask her hubby and he guided me. They also guided me with language, especially how cops talk. By the way, apparently, my language is tame in comparison to how those boys communicate. I know! Shocker! Tate’s language comes from my brother-in-law John who’s a football fanatic. I sent John snatches of dialogue and he guided me to how a guy would speak. He and my brother Gib helped me form all the passages about football in Sweet Dreams. My cousin Amanda is a police officer who is a liaison to CPS and she helped me to understand what Mara would go through to get the kids in Law Man.

I say this but I will change things to fit the story. No way Mara would get those kids the way she did. Also, small town police detectives don’t usually have partners. But in my worlds, I do whatever I want. I just try not to mess with it too much so it isn’t eye-roll worthy if you live the life.

But mostly, it’s the internet. Going back to For You, I had to do a lot of research on serial killers. That was not fun. But I’m very proud of how Denny came out even though he is seriously sick. You still almost feel for him. Or at least I do.

GG: So I know you live here in England cause of MM… did you meet him here or in the US… and what made England home...?

Moi: MM and I met on the internet, we were writing partners back in the day and I came out to England to see another bestie of mine (who also eventually married an Englishman but she now lives in NZ). I met MM when I came out and the rest is history. I’ve always had an adventurous spirit so when the decision had to be made of who would go where, I jumped at the chance of moving to England. And here I am.

GG: I love most of the characters in your book… but for some reason I really loved Lash, he reminded me of my friend Rob. Would you ever consider writing his book but NOT changing him in the process?

Moi: I don’t know. I try to write from a position of experience and obviously I’m not a gay guy. It’s crucial to me to be in the heads of my characters and for them to seem real to the readers. Even in my fantasies, this is important. I don’t know how I get in the heads of my men, I just do. I adore Lash. I would like to see Lash again. I want to give Brutus/Freddie his own book and Lash would be in that one. Perhaps he’ll have a side plot.

I never say never. But I will say I don’t know.

GG: Is there a question you've always wanted to be asked, but haven't, and would love to answer?

Moi: I could talk about my work for hours and hours and hours. So yes, there are a million of them. Truthfully, most of them are about The Golden Dynasty. There is a lot going on in that book, a number of decisions I made to let that story fly free without me curtailing some of the more shocking aspects of it, a lot of thought I put into it and much of it is important.

For instance, the Korwahk language was crucial to the story. Utterly crucial. This world is very barbaric and, for an outsider, frightening. But the language is soft and nearly singsong. This was done deliberately. Anything can appear one way on the surface and be another way deep down. And I felt the language Circe was hearing all around her, even though at first she didn’t understand the words, had to be gentle. It had to give her a subconscious indication that even with what she was experiencing, deep down, this society had good in it, gentleness, softness and beauty and she was safe there.

As far as the millions of other questions, as this series goes of reader interviews… we shall see!

Thanks again, Miss Gitte for even wanting to know the answers to these awesome questions!

Karla I just love these Q & A sessions.

That's right Kristen, it's your world, do what YOU want, because I know it's what so many of us want, and love to read about!

You write such wonderful love stories and your own is a tale in itself. I'm sure your husband was thrilled that you took the "leap" across the pond!

Thanks to Gorgeous Gitte for asking some great questions!

I am SOOOO glad you said that about his belly button because I was taken by his belly button and I didn't want to mention it and sound like a freaky belly button person because I'm not.

But in that belly, I so am... holy crap!

Karla Nothing ever sounds odd to me Kristen. My brain never stops, and unfortunately what I'm thinking has a tendency to come out of mouth...I have no shame!
