Immune System.

One of the advantages of growing older is the ability to recall past events. Often when attending school, I used to become irritated at the comments of elders, who liked to trot out the saying that school days are the best days of your life. At that time, I thought with shock and incredulity, what on earth are they talking about?

As a little boy, at the start of each school day my mother did her best to ensure my good health, by regularly giving me a spoon of cod liver oil and a big dose of orange juice. It was not the most pleasant experience, but I do not recall getting many colds.

As I grew in age, height and stature, I do not know why, but on attending secondary school there were no more regular doses of the highly anticipated cod liver oil. Subsequently the endless and seemingly relentless bout of colds assailed me. Apart from one time, when I managed to lose both my big toe nails and even ended up with both knees grazed, covered in open sores, I spent most of my days and nights in a fight with all the symptoms of cold. Thankfully, all the wounds and even the colds, after time safely healed or subsided.

It does make you think that the natural immune system may well be the most important deciding factor in whether one is infected with a virus and what type of outcome will prevail.

Did you know that vitamin D3 is a hormone as well as a vitamin? That means it has a direct effect on most of the cells throughout the body by ensuring the integrity of the RNA and inhibiting immune cells from attacking other healthy cells. Therefore a good level of vitamin D3 should be present, so it can help to protect the body from invading disease.

For me, I have found the benefit of vitamin D3 is by maintaining a healthy daily level through diet and exercise. A regular clove of garlic appears to have kept me free of colds and as prevention is often so much better than cure, at the first sign of any sniffles or throat tickles I immediately take some Echinacea.

The aforementioned are anecdotes of my own personal experience, and it is vital to keep in mind that everybody is different. Usually it is a positive action to naturally enhance and boost the immune system, but in recent times that motivation has significantly mattered more. Being aware of what is good for you in terms of immune system improvement can be as simple as increasing, maintaining or even starting to become aware of what can positively and preferably naturally, strengthen your own stamina and body health.

If you think of the immune system as your own personal bodyguard, then treating them well is possibly the best way to keeping you safe and healthy. It might only entail small actions but knowing what the immune system is and how it can best work for you, could well be a very important fact for the now and the future.
