In Honor of Juneteenth
Creative Ink, Flashy Fiction
—Book 16—"live" on June 20, 2021
This is to announce the release of the 16th book in our Flash Fiction Anthology series, Flash Fiction Stories In Honor of Juneteenth , by Theodore Jerome Cohen and Alyssa Devine. [Know that Alyssa Devine is a pen name used by Theodore Jerome Cohen for Young Adult (YA) and some other writings.]
Richard Wright said: “We black folk, our history, and our present being are a mirror of all the manifold experiences of America. What we want, what we represent, what we endure is what America is. If we black folk perish, America will perish.” Lending credence to these words are many of the 16 stories here celebrating the creation of Juneteenth. The tales primarily were selected from among the 438 stories were found in Books 1 through 6, incl., of the authors’ Creative Ink, Flashy Fiction anthologies. Included is an offering from Cohen’s second short-story anthology, The Road Less Taken – Book 2, as well as stories from Cohen’s Mementos series of anthologies. Most of the stories in the instant volume are 250 words or fewer in length. They are best compared to a handful of peanuts or M&M’s. Which is to say, they’re tiny, bite-sized morsels that won’t let you stop with one! The longer tales were added for those who seek something more substantial with which to curl up on a long winter night or better, on a beach in the hot summer sun.
If you like your fiction entwined with fact (“faction”), this collection is for you! Theodore Jerome Cohen is an award-winning author who has published more than ten novels—all but one of them mystery/thrillers—multiple flash-fiction and short-story anthologies, and one Young Adult (YA) mystery/thriller (published under the pen name Alyssa Devine). During his 45-year career he has worked as an engineer, scientist, CBS Radio Station News Service (RSNS) commentator, private investigator, US Army officer (CPT, Corps of Engineers), and Antarctic explorer. What he’s been able to do with his background is mix fiction with reality in ways even his family and friends have been unable to unravel!
I hope you enjoy all of these anthologies and would love to hear what you think of the stories. You can write to me via my website. And, as always, reviews are welcomed with open arms!

If you’d like to read one of the stories in Book 16, visit the book’s Webpage on my Website, and click on the hotlink for “View an Excerpt.” There, you’ll find a tender story about a man challenged by life getting his hair cut by a caring barber.
