FREEDOM FROM YOURSELF: LIVE ZEN – THE ART OF ENLIGHTENMENT, Satsang weekend with spiritual teacher and author Swami Dhyan Giten, 26-28 March, 2021, in Stockholm
“A FANTASTIC SATSANG WEEKEND WITH GITEN ON ZEN, MEDITATION AND LIFE. I AM SO GRATEFUL THAT SATSANG WITH GITEN IS AVAILABLE IN SWEDEN. IT IS A NEW DIMENSION. Zen is meditation in essence. I thought I knew what meditation is, but in the satsang weekend with Giten on Zen, meditation is not something sterile and lifeless, it becomes a a joy, a peace, a light and a singing silence in harmony with life.”
– Deva Emanuel, participant in satsang with Giten, musician and student of classical music at the University of Orebro
The West has only understood Zen on an intellectual level, but not onan existential level.
Zen is not a mind affair; Zen is a no-mind space.
In this satsang weekend, Giten the mystery, the wonder and the emptiness that is Zen. The greatest thing that Zen has brought into the world is freedom from oneself. When you come closer to your inner being, a great silence descends on you like a soft rain.
The deeper you go into yourself, the deeper you will see that you don’t exist as an individual. That is the meaning of Buddha’s doctrine of anatta, no-self. Here you find your inner Buddha. Everybody is born with the potential of becoming a Buddha. Meeting the Buddha within is a strange experience, because you start disappearing and the Buddha becomes more solid. You will not come to see any self inside you. the whole idea of being a person will slowly melt and there will be a kind of presence, but no personality. The individual will disappear and there will be the universal. You will not be separated from existence; you will find yourself one with the whole.
When you come to the deepest core of your being, to your very nature, you will know that you are God. You will know that existence is divine.
People suffer because they have forgotten their innermost no-self. Because they have forgotten their innermost presence, they have forgotten that they are one with the whole.
Zen goes beyond the ego and beyond the self. Except Zen, no religion has come to the point of going beyond the self, beyond the atman, beyond your spirit, beyond your individuality.
In 1982, Giten was directed by the Divine presence in a trancesession with the American trance chancellor Lin David Martin: “You have listened to your intuition, to your true inner voice, more than most. You have been searching for the contact with the Spirit for a long time and now it isbeginning to manifest on the outer plane. You have been gifted many times inprevious embodiments and now everything will come rather easy for you. I want you to put your energy into the lives of others, because you can.”
A spiritual teacher, who has counseled thousands of people, told Giten in 1984: “You will dissolve into the silence. All the earlier enlightened Masters and all the small Deva’s are just here to help youto get enlightened.”
There is no self as such. You are no more, only existence is. Hence, Zen is essentially freedom from oneself.
You have heard about other freedoms, but freedom from oneself is the ultimate freedom – not to be, and allow the existence to express itself. This disappearance is anatta, no-self, but it is existence, it is not you, not me. It is life itself dancing, not you, not me. This is freedom from oneself.
And only Zen has refined, in these twenty-five centuries, methods, devices to make you aware that you are not, that you are only arbitrary, just an idea. As you go beyond the mind, even the idea of”I am” disappears. When the”I”also disappears and you start feeling a deep involvement in existence, with no boundaries, then only has Zen blossoms in you.
In fact, that is the state, the space of the awakened consciousness. But it has no”I” at the center, no atman, no self.
Padma says about satsang with Giten: “Satsang with Giten is heaven. Satsang with Giten is a taste of the eternal, a taste ofthe timeless. It can feel like we sat for 3 hours, while we only sat for 40 minutes. I was so afraid that I would lose the silence that I had found during satsang in India, but I found the silence again in satsang with Giten. Samadhi is like dying. The fear that I experienced in the beginning in satsang when I went into samadhi, when I disappeared into thesilence, has now disappeared totally.
Satsang with Giten is like coming home. I went into samadhi three times during a satsang weekend with Giten – and I also got a map and an understanding for how to go into samadhi again. Before I started to attend satsang, I did not think that enlightenment was possible, but now I feel that it is possible. Satsang with Giten confirms what I have really always known. I never thought that samadhi was possible, but in satsang with Giten, samadhi is knocking on the door.”
During this satsang weekend, Giten will talk about the difference between being a personality, a person, and being a presence, Togetherness and aloneness, love and of meditation; egolessness, doing and non-doing, the difficulty of understanding the simple. There is something here for every sincere and intelligent seeker of truth. This satsang weekend can bring a radical change in your consciousness; it can change your very roots. It can bring new eyes to you, a new clarity. This satsang weekend with Giten is not totransfer some knowledge, but to transplant some being.
In this satsang weekend, Giten wants to share his being, his light, with you – the purpose is not to give knowledge, but to enlighten.
This satsang weekend is supported by silent satsang with Giten, which is a direct insight and realization of being. It is a direct realization of no-self, of egolessness, of being a light to yourself, which can change your whole life.
