What I'm Reading

Working my way through 19th century novels at a great clip. Did I say Trollope was not for me in an earlier post? HOW WRONG I WAS! Tbf, I began with The Way We Live Now, which is one of his ATYPICAL masterpieces. I wanted to try typical. I wanted to see how Trollope-y Trollope could be. I wanted to read the most popular Trollope book there was, his Pride and Prejudice, his Little Women. Which is this oddly specific book about church politics which I know nothing about and about the people affected by church politics which was delicious and delightful and so funny! Actually it's not very MUCH about church politics so let your eyes sort of skim those sections as you get back to hating Mr Slope, a man whose face resembles beef... But not of the best quality. I'm so sold, I'm going to get the rest in his Barchester series, but you can read them stand alone and out of order like I did here. #anthonytrollope #barchestertowers #bookstagram #mrmbookclub #120in2020
