In today's society it is shunned upon to be Selfish.

Self means - essential being
-ish means - concerned or preoccupied with

I think Society got it wrong. I think it is of utmost importance to be concerned with self. Who else did God give you responsibilities and duties for? Your goal in life is the betterment of self.
