*This is one big breath, one long big breath that exploded out of me in the face of this strange quarantine Covid19 nonsense.  This is one breath.*

This will go I believe this
wholeheartedly and true
this will go and we will return
and I hope breathless hope and
desperate clinging belief
that perhaps we will be changed
when it does go, when we do return
and borders fade back into map lines
and fear subsides and pulls back
like small waves to big sea
before a tsunami of love washes
over the shore of this place and we
are more gentle to those who have
suffered and more tender with those
who have lost and make new space
for animals that in their confusion
wandered into what was once their
home now newly paved and concrete
where all they knew was trees and
this will go and I believe this and I
sit each morning and take deep breaths
and question the fullness of my lungs
and every ache scares me and I know
that will go too and one day I will stand
at the top of some green mountain
with the sea sprawled out before me
like my wife naked and waiting in the sheets
and I will call to it and call to her
and they will answer in the same voice
and somehow I will understand the
words they shout and maybe it will sound
like they are saying at the tip top of their own
tired lungs that this has gone and we have returned
and your lungs are strong and each
breath is enough to keep your heart
your perfect delicate heart
beating.
