Fascinated by the shadows
in me,
the dark patches of soul
most shy from,
the caverns below
the gardens,
the mists that remain
when the rain has gone.

Here,
I am made whole again,
eternal spring of
immortal persuasion,
here is the source
of the life that comes
from mind to heart,
heart out to voice,
to fingertip,
to ink.  

I am not the sun,
I am the shade
and the cool earth
it falls upon.
