To hell with beauty
or what they teach us
of it, to hell with thigh gaps
and legs too thin to run on,
to hell with wasting away
for magazine covers
or movie screens, to hell with
trying to be less
to feel like more.

Give me strength,
give me ferocity of soul,
give me courage to be
who you were born to be,
the comfort that comes
with loving every piece
of yourself.  

Call this exorcism, call it
the casting out of every demon
planted by every demand
this world has placed
on your body.  Scream with
strong arms and legs,
scream with your refusal
to waste away.
