Visions
while head pounded in pain
and hours trickled by,
fever dreams
made real, spreading
across the spaces
beyond this
suffering.

You,
dressed for daylight,
kettle in hand
and sea behind
the doorframe
you filled with shape
and silhouette.

Me,
aged beyond comprehension,
bedridden but
smiling,
I swear I knew the secrets
or at least spoke
their language.  

I saw time unfold, in the
pulsing heartbeat
that found its way
to my temples, I saw
all that was and will be,

before waking,
and forgetting it
all.
