Batgirl, Volume 6: Old Enemies Batgirl, Volume 6: Old Enemies by Mairghread Scott

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

We get a couple of two issue storylines and both work fairly well.

The first story involves Batgirl helping a candidate for Congress, which in many ways plays homage to the Bronze Age Batgirl for Congress story. The second finds her battling a new version of the Terrible Trio.

Mostly, the stories in this book work a treat. Throughout, there's subtle developments in character, the return of old flames, tension with her father of her killer brother from prison, and the discarding of a status quo element that's been in this book for years, but creates a lot of problems that aren't interesting in a superhero book.

While Batgirl has some moments of being unusually angry, it does tie into the direction writer Mairghread Scott is taking the character, so I'm good with it and intrigued where this is leading.
