Old men in old suits
shouting old words
from old ideas,
old applause
filling old buildings
with old monuments
to old founders.
If we do what
we did, again
and again,
walk the same roads
we’ll go the same
places.
We’ll make the same
mistakes,
we’ll hurt
the same people.
New, maybe,
brand new, fresh
and wide-eyed,
new, perhaps,
for as far as we’ve come,
we have so much
further
left to
go.
