Forgetful lot,
we,
misplace the knowledge
that we
are still alive,
still beating heart
and rebellious
breath.

Each ache
is not the finale,
each twinge
of each piece
inside,
not the bell lap
sounding
before we
cease.

Soak your fear
in the blood
that thumps,
wring it out
and drip
maroon

everywhere
you
go.
