What I know is tears shine
in moonlight,
that goodbye is a word
that never fades
from your lips, it stays
and every word
that follows it
carries its taste.
I know of yesterday,
the glow of it, the simple
paint on canvas white,
the stare at it
as though gallery hung,
I know its value
for I deal in befores,
fetch prices like antiquity
though they are fresher,
though they feel
new.
On shore you stood,
on solid ice,
and I hope you forgive my
silence
if I never say
goodbye.
