Trump is in the White House because the middle class is
being ground to dust, leaving a lot of angry people behind. Raising taxes on the wealthy, which Bloomberg
promises to do, won’t fix this. Adding
jobs, another promise, won’t fix this.
We have plenty of people who are working full time, yet
are living from one paycheck to the next, trying to figure out how they’re
going to still buy food after they pay the rent and the utility bill.
These people don’t need welfare. They just need the government to stop
sticking its hand so deep into their pocket.
Cutting withholding on the low end is more important than raising it on
the high end.
The first $30k of income should be exempt from Social
Security and Medicare withholding; the employer’s contribution should count
double. Make up the loss by raising or
removing the cap at the top. “Give us
money now, and we’ll give it back when you’re 65.” That’s a scam.
The first $30k of income should also should be tax
free. Living in this country on less
than $30k is tough. Trying to raise a
family on that much? Forget about it,
especially with the government taking its slice off the top..
These changes wouldn’t make anybody rich, but they
would take some of the pressure off.

sorry to leave a comment like this on such a serious post... and I do know how it feels to live from one paycheck to another... I was an Irish street kid and now live in Australia... but I've just read your book Destiny Unfulfilled and it was brilliant! Thank you! I found it a wonderful writers guide that shows how heroes need to EARN their victories. Also how a writer can strengthen crucial scenes and climaxes by making sure the hero is being more active and showing heroic traits and skills. You've helped me see all the problems I had in my own hero's character arc... lucky I read your book before publishing! I was recommended to you in the guide "A Writer's Guide to Harry Potter" and am so glad I bought your book! I've just left a 5 star rating on Goodreads and will leave one on Amazon as soon as I sort out a glitch. I just downloaded your PDF of Harold and can't wait to read. A lot of time and thinking went into A Destiny Unfulfilled and I appreciate all your insights. Maybe now's the time to write a follow up book showing how Rowling's writing mistakes (which are so easy to make) are now leading her into deeper problems with Fantastic Beasts? I see your insights as lessons that can all of us help improve our writing skills... thank you!
