Wow! Thank you for answering my question! I won a poetry contest once in about the same grade....I remember how excited I was. They even published it in the news paper. It was called "What America means to me". I even won a little money and I remember my mom had appendicidis and was in the hospital at the time. So I used the money to buy her some flowers to take to her... Anyway. Thank you also for the advice! I never thought about it being like a muscle! And I definitely agree about humility. I am a singer and I think its a very important trait. I think that alot of times people feel like authors are too ummm self centered or busy to take the time to talk to the average person about their books or otherwise. I think its kinda a famous person complex that we automaticly assume anyone with a well known name has. I'm quickly learning that most authors are average people, just doing what they love. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer our questions, share your work, and get to know your fans! I think that says alot about you as a person and an author!

I get folks telling me all the time how I'm gonna forget them or not talk to them anymore. I just shake my head and tell them that I'm the same guy I've always been - I've just been blessed to be published. Nothing else has changed. :P
Awesome story about your mom! I love it -- and I'll be checking out your youtube profile too - thanks for the link! :)
Thanks, Brannon, for wearing your heart and your history on your sleeve. I greatly appreciate it!I initially went to reply to your question, and found my story (a lot) longer than what suites a comment, so I blogged it on my site. :)
You can follow it hear, but the gist is that I love to write because the Living Word loves me and created that passion in me through lots of joyful, painful experiences. :)

Excellent!
I had won a few writing contests too... [and was THAT girl] but all in my youth and in my native language [which is obviously not English]. Way to go for for keeping your passion burning and for making an effort to insert writing time to your busy everyday schedule. Most people will not be able to keep a rigorous writing schedule along with a full time job. I think that you are being humble by the way you describe your writing efforts :)

I really do. :) For me, it's a passion - if I don't write or create something, well, I just don't feel like myself. :)
