the empty nest…wasps do no harm

The wasps built their nest in the back garden in the cats’ enclosure and before I noticed it, they had begun to occupy it. That was a few months ago, and soon it grew longer. I knew they wouldn’t harm anyone if they were left alone, but I was worried the cats may leap at it. I kept a watch on the cats for a few days but they and the wasps paid no attention to each other. Then, as winter approached, by the beginning of November, the wasps departed.

Unnecessarily people knock down their nests or smoke them out. They disturb no one, if they are undisturbed, and help the environment too. In Dehradun, India.

Marian Semic I’d love to see more about your cat enclosure. I have a large one with no roof but it has overhangs on the fence. It is about 1,400 sq ft. and is connected to the house with a cat door.

Roshen Dalal Hi Marian,
Because of my cats fighting I actually have three enclosures. The back garden one where the wasp nest was is fully enclosed --there are walls on two sides , one the neighbour's wall, one of the room where they stay, top and front enclosed with netting. Not sure how to post pictures here, maybe we can connect on facebook? I had written a book on my cat Sweetie, that too has pictures.
