FAQ'S Post LIF
1. Is this the end of the series?
What? Heck no! I had always assumed it would be a trilogy, but now I am not sure. More characters have turned up, their problems are large and I don't know when a reasonable end date is. I think I'll know more when the third book is planned out.
2. When is the third book coming out?
The third book probably will be out in May. I have to write the first draft and see how it looks. If half of it has to be trashed then it may be longer. I have not started writing it yet. My kids are home for school break and I get too grumpy if they interrupt when I am writing. It's not fair to them to have a mean mom, so after the New Year I think.
3. What is the soundtrack for LIF?
My friend Mandy Norrell (she has a blog, can't remember the address just now) said she read it and was reminder of certain songs for the characters. It was awesome because I have very vivid memories of listening to Depeche Mode while reading Anne Rice at 16. So I told her what songs I have for the characters.
All of Love is Darkness was written while listening to Florence and the Machine. I could not listen to it if I was not writing because I was instantly in their heads and not being able to write was very stressful. (yes, that does sound weird.) In particular, Rabbit Heart always reminds me of Lucas in Cafe Rouge. The key lyrics are...

For this book the big songs were:
Val- Rhiannon, Only Girl In the World. Poor Val.
Lucas - Home by Depeche Mode.

Rachel -- Nicest Thing, Kate Nash
Cer does not have a song yet. He's a bit of an enigma, but I'm working on it.
4. Will there be a HEA?
A Happily Ever After? Hell, yes! It will be a rough road to get there but that's the goal!
One of my pet-peeves for romance is writing an alpha male who is hot but a jerk. And yet, now he's reformed. For PNR and UF it's worse. He's been a jerk for centuries! So he's REALLY not gonna change. It also bugs me that these awful, awful guys are suddenly sanitized. Sure he killed people, but who cares? He's hot! And with the love of a good woman he could turn it around. The short list of men who we buy as good husband material is scarce. The ones that are, we remember. Here is my list, feel free to add to it!

Joscelin DeVere- Kushiel books
Hugh-- Demon Angel
Ruck-- For My Lady's Heart
Allegretto-- Shadowheart

As for the rest, I find myself glossing over the ending. I want to believe it. Valerie is going to wind up with someone good. Right now everyone in the series is murky. One of them is going to be good enough for her. Eventually. None of them are good enough yet. I want her guy to go down as a 'Jamie.' I know that's a very ballsy thing to say and something I will probably not be able to make happen. But that's the goal. Aim high, right?
Songs? Men? Thoughts?
I did two book clubs recently and they both asked me the same question. Who would play Jack, Lucas and Val if there was a movie? I don't feel like I can say since my guy would not match with who you imagine. But I would KILL to hear your suggestions. Or at least be willing to send you a deleted sex scene from LIF :) And if you want that scene, I can't send it to you without an email!
