A message from the Moon muted over the years…

Today is a solemn but sad day, full of nostalgia and yearning. Fifty years ago, I was part of the party-like atmosphere in College Park, Maryland, as Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first human being to set foot on the Moon. No good and wonderful event since then has brought the US and the world so much together to share our common humanity and hope for the future.

I'm pleased you liked this. Let's hope for better times. There's no space race now, so our motivation, to be pure, has to be purely scientific...although a bit of thirst for adventure always helps, right?

Clare O'Beara I believe the space race is now to exploit the rare minerals of the asteroids.
That is a huge financial incentive as well as a scientific one.
Many asteroids will have crashed into Mars, giving another reason why we will go to Mars.
