Summer Reading
It is pouring rain today. Luckily,
I have a good book to help pass the time. I am hooked on a great cozy mystery
called Cake and Punishment: A Southern
Cake Mystery by Maymee Bell. It has all the elements I like in a cozy
mystery—crime, characters, and fun. I highly recommend it. Next on my list is Liane
Moriarty’s Big Little Lies—another
one I am excited to dig into.
Afterwards, I’m going to switch gears a little bit. I was lucky enough to be given an advanced copy of an historical mystery by Rosemary Simpson set to be released in November. I read the first two pages and I’m already hooked. It is a great reason to look forward to the cooler fall weather.
Do you find
weather changes your reading preferences? Although I read cozy mysteries year
round, sometimes I find myself longing for something different when the seasons
change. I tend to choose a longer book with the first snowfall, for example.
Is this
something everyone does? I’m curious. Maybe this is a widely-known trend that
only I’m not aware of! After attending Thrillerfest XIV in New York last week,
I have a list of books to read so long, I think I’m set for the next year.
What are you
reading right now?
