Making Up for Lost Time

In 2002 I was bitten by a tick.  I was misdiagnosed for several months, being told I had everything from hepatitis to a spider bite.  By the time I was told I had Lyme disease, it was systemic and well on it's way to being chronic.

After spending a good part of the next eight years lying on the couch, I found a protocol that has helped.  I am up and about, and I have the energy to finally write again.

As I was getting better, I realized that I felt waaaayyy behind.  iPhone?  What the hell is that?  Laptop?  Sure--I've seen people use them.  New friends? Ummmm...not so much.  I had so much to catch up on!  I felt like Rip Van Winkle, or that I was waking up after being sealed in a time capsule, and I could not do things fast enough.  Texting, apps, iPads, Bluetooth in cars, trips, plays, you name it...I was a kid in a candy store and life was fascinating.

But I could not and cannot shake the feeling that I missed out on so much.  I've had to say no to vacations, parties, lunches with friends, work, and most regrettably, playing with my son.

So if my house is a little messy, dinner is late, nobody picks up my phone, you see me building snowmen on my front lawn with my son when I should be at a town meeting, or you see me having an ice cream soda for breakfast, just know I am making up for some lost time, and I feel better.  :)
