Anything better than Gmail out there?

That I'm using blogger, a Google product, isn't lost on me. But the issues with gmail have become too much. I have pressed send on a few emails, then I find them in my drafts folder, not sent. Just missed  a deadline because of this. And telling the other person "I swear I pressed send" makes me seem like a crazy person or stupid beyond belief. Sure I could say they're doing this on purpose, but I would rather see it as a buggy problem (been happening and slow loading for a year now) that I need to fix now. 
Any one have recs for good email clients? hell, at this point I would pay for one.
