Reading: a cautionary tale

Reading is dangerous. Addiction to books – expensive and time-consuming. Keep your kids away from books. Or they will fall in love with them and nothing will drag them back to Snapnite, Instabook, and drugs anymore.   My first book I really wish I could remember more than that it was a kids’ book. Melanie Love it. I wish I could remember the book that got me started (it may very well be the Sesame Street Monster at the End of This Book - because it is my favourite from childhood). I remember loving the library and finding my first book in the adult section. I read 100 books last year. I gave up knitting in the last couple of years and have been reading more. I'm sure I'll go back to knitting, but love that I have found so much joy in reading again.

Bjørn One of the things I like about Goodreads a lot is that I will find out how many books I actually manage to read this year :) my memory is... I forgot what it is, but it definitely has no idea how much I read. I stopped making music, focussing on reading and writing. Similarly to you, I'm sure I will go back to music, but right now I need escape a lot and there are millions of places I can go without leaving the house, travelling the worlds of words.

What was the best book out of the 100 you've read last year?

Melanie I think 'Call Me By Your Name'. It was such a beautiful love story. But, there were so many good books last year. 'There There' by Tommy Orange, that I was blown away by.

Bjørn Oh wow, I didn't even know 'Call My By Your Name' was a book before the movie. 'There There' is staring at me from my e-reader, waiting... waiting... ouch.

Guess I'll be reading both!

Melanie Keep me posted! I'm on track to read another 100 this year. Becoming by Michelle Obama and Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen are my favourites so far this year.
