Pay Attention to the Price

Prices are rarely fixed. You may have checked prices before found that the 10oz size of X was less per ounce than the 6oz size of X, but that can quickly change. So it's important to compare prices everytime you shop. Practice makes this go faster, but coming to the store with a calculator at ready isn't a bad idea.

I stopped by Target this weekend to pick up some personal items. The medium size was $5.99, but get $5 off if you buy 3. Further searching of the shelves showed that the Jumbo size was $5.49 (but the $5 off didn't apply to the Jumbo). I blinked a few times, double checked, but it was so. I was trying to keep my costs close to $10 since my spending money was limited. 2 Jumbo packs should keep me supplied for a few months, and 3 packs would have been hard to store. So I grabbed 2 Jumbo packs and headed to the register.

At the register, both packs (both Jumbo, but slightly different products) rang up $7.49...which made more sense, but I pointed out the shelf price. Cashier called for a price check. Check confirmed that one was $5.49, but said other pack was $5.49 for a different size. I returned to the shelves to see if I had a faulty memory. Nope, check was wrong (or more acurately didn't look quite hard enough). They were both listed for $5.49. Since there's a camera on my phone, I snapped a picture of the price and took my photo evidence back to the register. I got both packs at $5.49.

I know some people feel funny getting a bargain because the store mislabeled something, which I think was the case here. I've decided it's like getting a finders fee for reporting the mistake to them so they can fix it.
