Shadows

To all those who long for something they cannot have, this one is for you from one who understands longing:

Shadows

Way out past the sunset,

Way out past the sea,

Shining moon and shadows

Are not close to thee.

Farther than the wind blows,

Farther than the waves,

Roars upon the sand breaks,

Closer to my face.

Though I am now farther,

Farther out to sea,

Closer than a mile,

Closer yet to thee,

I see thee not.

I am farther than the tide,

Swift as light.
