Demons get dressed in new covers!

I've been working with Cameron Kamenicky and Naomi Lucas, the designers who did the new cover for To Love A Monster, on replacing the cover of books in Demons series. Here is the new one for Demon Mine:

The Forgotten cover is still being updated, but I already have received new covers for books 3 and 4, and I'm itching to write those stories. This is so inspiring! <3

I've answered the question about my reasons to replace the painted covers with photo-manipulated ones on my Goodreads profile. However, if you didn't get a chance to see it yet, here is the copy of my answer:

"I love the illustrations also, and I am planning to continue having them done for as many of my books as I can. But only as illustrations from now on. :)

I've been told over and over again, by readers as well as many people in the industry, that as an indie author the point is not to stand out but to blend in with the genre you write in. Unfortunately, people find my painted covers misleading: Demon Mine is routinely mistaken for a Beauty and The Beast story and To Love A Monster for an alien romance or even a children story! :)

Nowadays, a reader spends less than a second looking at the cover before making the decision to click to learn more or to pass. So the cover has to tell an accurate story of what to expect from the book at one glance.
That is the reason I am gradually moving away from the painted covers to the photo-manipulated ones, as my Contemporary-Paranormal genre demands.

That said, I am thrilled to be working with Naomi Lucas and Cameron Kamenicky, the exceptionally talented graphic designers, who have been creating the new covers for me. They understand my vision and always come up with something even more beautiful that what I have in my head.

My new covers are turning out to be the best of both worlds, in my opinion: they are genre-appropriate, but still stand out as unique and exceptionally well-done.
I hope you'll like the rest of them when you see them, too. :)"

I am looking into having the paperbacks with original covers available through other sources for those who love them. Also, I'm planning to have postcards with the original cover paintings done, to include them in all my giveaways.

The original covers will remain on Amazon until the end of February, and I will replace Demon Mine and The Forgotten covers at the same time.

Celestine I have to admit that your illustrated cover is exactly the reason I gave your book a second look! I know I am probably in the minority, but I think originality on the cover indicates originality on the inside! I understand the reasoning behind the switch, but I will miss your illustrations!

Marina Simcoe Thank you, Celestine. The original covers will always have a special place in my heart. Unfortunately, except for the two of us, and a couple of more readers, who emailed me with the same sentiment, the market seems to prefer the photo-manipulated ones. I have been turned down for listings with promo companies because my covers are not "genre-appropriate" and don't look "professional." I've also heard from readers, who bypassed Demon Mine because Sytrius looks "non-human" or "scary" in his armour. :)
I'm just a small fish in the sea. It turns out, it's easier to swim with the flow, especially if one struggles to stay afloat. So, I gave up.
The best I could do, though, is to have the new covers still look unique within their genre. I'm really pleased with the job the graphic designers did.
Also, I will continue with the illustrations of the new books whenever I have a chance. I'll continue posting them on my website and make into postcards too, for giveaways. :)

Stephanie I agree with Celestine. The original cover is what drew me to the book. And I love all of your Demon series books so far. I can't wait to read about Raim and what happened to make him mistrust a human woman's love. Also, is Andras and Natasha going to get their own book?

Marina Simcoe Hi Stephanie. I am planning to write a novella for Andras and Natasha, not a full-length novel, since we already know much of their love story. :) I don't have it on my writing schedule, though, so I don't have the release date yet. But it will happen,
