It has been far too long since I’ve participated in First Line Fridays. But I’m back from my “blogging vacation” and am ready to share the first line of the fabulous book I’ve been reading this week. Be sure to head over to
Hoarding Books to check out first lines from other bloggers!
This week, I’m reading
Behind the Scenes
by Jen Turano. Here’s the first line:
Pressing her nose against the glass of the carriage window, Miss Permilia Griswold felt her stomach begin to churn as she took note of the throngs of people lining Fifth Avenue.Okay, let’s just take a moment to gush about how fabulous this book is. I give it all the heart eye emojis. It boasts a strong, slightly quirky heroine, many pretty dresses (1880s dresses for the win!) and a thread of mystery. I love all the funny situations Permilia gets herself into. She’s witty and smart, and a little shy, which makes her all the more relatable. I love the time period this book is set and I love reading books set in New York, making this book all the more fun for me. This is just a great read!
What’s the first line from your current read? Have you recently read a book that you drooled over? I’d love to hear about it!
