View from my coffee cup

A homeless man sat by the door of the coffee shop. He graciously refused more gifts of coffee from exiting patrons. I marveled at how astute he had been; then, I remembered one of my favorite inspirational stories and I silently remarked: Even this homeless man appreciates that he had had enough coffee.

This is my inspirational story —

Simon, a follower of Jesus (and a fisherman) had been fishing the previous night, and caught nothing.  Jesus advised Simon to launch out into deep waters and set down his nets for a catch.  Simon did as he was told and he caught so many he had to call for help. (The story is told in Luke 5.4 ). Launching out into “deep waters” is scary, especially when you’re not a good swimmer, yet deep waters is where your catch could be.

Fear (in its various forms) will make us second guess our reasons for daring to go farther, dig deeper, take chances or even show an amount of vulnerability. Fear is a liar, determined to hold folks back. Take chances, go after your catch.
