Skyline 2010
When Skyline first came out, I'd missed it in theaters. I was bummed out too, but I was determined to see it. I purchased it on dvd and fell in freaking LOVE... until the end. I was so freaking ANGRY at the way they left things. Especially since I didn't know if a second movie would be made to explain things! I thought it both the best and worst of alien invasion movies. Let me share why... #element-c401804b-3771-43d4-a1ac-54bfc9e09506 .waddons-blog-image.hideImage { display: none;}
Jarrod and Elaine are visiting a friend in L.A. Since I'm a CA native, I'm wondering why they had to co to Los Angeles too, but I digress. Their friend, who's big time these days, wants Jarrod to move to L.A. and work with him; he wants them to become rich and famous together. Jarrod thinks it could be both fun and unbelievable, but Elaine has news for him that could change everything.And then in the wee hours of the morning, lights fall to earth. These lights draw people from their homes like the bug zappers catch mosquitos and moths. But it's so much more. And then the true invasion takes off.
Skyline is a fast paced movie that keeps you on your toes, because it's the end of the world an you want the humans to win! It's fantastic! From the special FX to the acting, it all feels pretty darned good, almost real. The aliens are mesmerizing and I'm not saying that because of their alluring blue lights. I'm saying it's freaky and monstrous. Then just when you think there's no way out, Jarrod shows us a way.
I liked Skyline, back in 2010 and in 2018 when I rewatched it with the intention of reviewing it. Especially since there's a part two now: Beyond Skyline. Skyline is one of those movies that was a blockbuster, but people were let down by the ending. Just know that if you watch Skyline and then Beyond Skyline right behind it, you will receive the answers you seek. Jus know that the second movie is nowhere near as amazing as the first.
I'm an Eric Falbour fan so I'm endorsing this one. I'm also moving on to the next movie, but you can find Skyline in iTunes for around $10. Check it out! Skyline
