We have just come back from a very good open air concert just south of Glastonbury, conducted by the BBC's Charles Hazlewood (in his back field, basically) - an orchestra doing Holst's Planet Suite. In between planets, he had a subsidiary group as a response orchestra, improvising 'replies' to each movement. I gather this group includes members of Goldfrapp and Portishead, so they're used to innovative material, and what they did was interesting.
