My understanding is that there are downloadable e-reader programs you can use on your computer. I've never used one, but Amazon provides a link to the program they offer.
There is a Nook app for PC as well. Also available from both companies on your smartphone, which wouldn't be too bad for a short story. I read all of Leviathan Wakes on my phone.
